There's three categories of photos:
People
Nature
Creatures and Critters
Enter your photos here until Monday, January 4, 2016. Professional Photographers will be judging first and second place in each category, but we'll be awarding prizes to the favorite photos voted by you!
First Place in each category: $75
Second Place in each category: $50
PLUS, a $50 cash prize to the favorite photo in each category as determined by online voting.
The Daily News photography contest is open to residents of Northeast and North Central Nebraska who are amateur photographers. Excluded are persons who accept money for their photography in any capacity. Contest entrant must be the person who actually shot the photograph.
Only two photographs may be entered in each category by each participant.
Only online entries, complete with digital photographs in .jpeg format, will be accepted.
Online entry form must be completed in its entirety.
In the professional judging portion of the contest, photos will be judged on subject matter, composition, technique, impact and creativity.
In the online public voting, the criteria is simply a "favorite" photo. No more than one vote per category per 24 hours by an individual.
Online voting will begin Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, and continue through Friday, January 29, 2016.
Winners of the contest will be included in a section of the Daily News' Insight 2016 edition that will be published Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, and online.
